We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Maeve McKean and her son Gideon. Maeve was a passionate advocate for global health and gender equality. Among her many roles, she was a member of the executive committee of the Washington, D.C. chapter of Women in Global Health. A public health and human rights lawyer, Maeve's work focused on the intersection of global health and human rights. Last year Women in Global Health organized an event with the Georgetown University Global Health Initiative, which Maeve led, on another intersection: health, climate change, and gender. Tackling complex issues was something Maeve never shied away from doing over the course of her illustrious career defending human rights and advocating for women and children's health and LGBTQ health issues. We are honored to have known Maeve and will never forget her commitment to creating a more just and equitable world. Our hearts go out to David, Gabriella, and Toby - and everyone who loved Maeve and Gideon. May they rest in peace.
